*POSITION OVERVIEW: *Ability to analyze, gather, compile, code, categorize, calculate, audit and verify all programming information using the appropriate programming language.
To diagnose software and hardware problems and all levels.
Provide software and hardware assistance to end users.
Install and maintain new hardware and software for all users.
Perform daily functions within the Information Technology Department.
Ability to interact with others is a must.
*EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:* To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the ability to thoroughly grasp the principles and practices of computing, including the managing of multiple servers, workstations, and data security, provide technical support, design and programs specific to various County departments’ , troubleshoot hardware, peripherals, networks, and systems to ensure functionally of the equipment, maintain a current knowledge of new technology, and performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
*EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE*: _Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required skill and knowledge is qualifying.
Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:_
* Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, any other related field, or 2 years professional work experience.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *An employee in this classification is responsible for performing assignments that are technical in nature and are carried out in accordance with administrative and personnel practices, procedures and precedents, specific goals and objectives and any applicable legal standards or regulations.
Specific job duties include the following:
* Be familiar with basic system administrator tools and process; example boot/shutdown machines, add/remove/modify user accounts etc.
* Ensure that daily backups and are completed and anti-virus is up to date and disaster recovery operations.
* Maintain security, phone systems, users e-mail, hardware and software applications relating to user’s computer environments.
* Consult with personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes that will improve work flow.
* Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems.
* To assist end users with any hardware and software problems that they may occur.
* Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
* Provide staff and users with assistance solving computer related problems, such as malfunctions and program problems.
* Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records within the server environments.
* Gather information for enhancements/development and code enhancement, development/design systems and/or fixes to production software using appropriate language.
* Test enhancements and new programs.
* Train end users on new and enhanced programs.
* Support installation of application releases into production as directed.
* Test, maintain, and monitor computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of computer programs and systems.
* Utilize configuration management tools, design tools, debugging tools, and any other environment specific tools necessary to create, test, and implement and application.
