Summary (Major Purpose of the Role): Provide tooling, technical, and engineering support for all areas of manufacturing to maintain, improve, and/or implement new production processes.
Main Activities/Responsibilities:
Design and fabricate tooling, fixtures, and test equipment to support manufacturing assembly, test, and packing operations.
Serve as the manufacturing support engineer for shift operations including assembly station steps, equipment troubleshooting and machine preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and optimize unit throughput.
Research and source capital equipment to support current and potential manufacturing requirements.
Identify areas of plant operation for improvement with the focus on increasing productivity, preventing injury, improving quality, and reducing product cost.
Conduct validation testing of other associates’ software programs, fixtures, and process equipment.
Develop modify and maintain assembly documentation and schematics for new and existing products.
Participate in Product Development Project meetings and development processes to provide manufacturability assessments of new model releases and sustaining engineering updates.
Competencies:
Ability to manage shop floor equipment projects ranging from single components to full assembly lines.
Ability to coordinate outside equipment /component suppliers
Strong communication skills – verbal and written
Ability to work under pressure and with deadlines
Reporting Relationships and Supervision:
This position works under the supervision of the Director, Manufacturing Engineering - NA.
Most areas of responsibility are reviewed on a weekly basis.
In addition to the required daily duties, project work spanning up to nine months may be assigned in cooperation with the Union Associates, R&D Associates, and Manufacturing Engineering.
Education and Experience:
Associate Degree in a technical discipline with 3+ years engineering related experience or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline with 1+ years engineering related experience preferred.
Coursework to include mechanical and/or electrical design.
3 or more years of experience in a production environment preferred.
Experience in medical products manufacturing preferred.
Experience in providing Design for Manufacturability guidance to new product development teams.
Experience in use of SolidWorks 3-D Modeling software preferred.
Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC programming and troubleshooting is a plus.
Prior programming experience using Visual Basic is a plus.
