Summary:
Programming, set-up, operation, and troubleshooting in the Machining department.
Responsibilities:
Support the CNC equipment by defining tooling, fixturing, and gauging required in the manufacturing process
Responsible for reviewing CNC operations for proper work center selection, work content, special tooling, cycle times, speeds and feeds, raw material, and special gauging needed
Develop detailed machining sequence, method tooling, and setup information to support pre-production fixture, tool, machine setup, and CAM program preparation
Develop CNC source programs utilizing CAM software, Siemens NX12
Work with engineering to develop, document, and maintain manufacturing routings, bills of material (BOM), and raw materials for incoming manufacturing orders
Record and release out-going manufacturing orders within the ERP system
Maintain all pre-production records and files in accordance with all local and corporate procedures
Work with engineering and machining lead to organize and maintain manufacturing documents
Enter process and CNC programming data into the master CAM database
Build and maintain all DNC electronic files and folders
Ensure data integrity for all outgoing manufacturing work orders
Work with engineering to recommend corrective actions to address productivity and quality issues
Perform various long-term projects to reduce manufacturing costs, estimate standard costs, and investigate causes of variance
Coordinate machine repair and fixture modification projects with maintenance and engineering
Setup and operate all CNC machines as required
Design and manufacture fixturing for specific parts and/or work with outside resources to get fixturing manufactured Provide support with process questions and troubleshooting
Provide guidance to other team members through effective communication and positive leadership as requested by the supervisor
Qualifications:
High School Diploma
3+ years of relevant metal-cutting experience as a programmer
Secondary Degree/Technical Certification (OR 5+ years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment in lieu of education)
Ability to program using G-Code and CAM
A clear understanding of all machining operations: milling and turning
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of 5-axis mills and multi-axis lathes
Ability to select appropriate manufacturing methods, tooling, fixturing, jaws, collets, feeds, and speeds
Must have the ability to read and understand blueprints, work instructions, and control plans
Must be able to do basic math with knowledge of trigonometry functions
Demonstrated ability to translate machining drawings and other engineering documents to the appropriate manufacturing process steps to create a finished product (i.
e.
BOM and routing development)
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work with limited direct supervision
Some daily and weekend overtime may be required
Provide support with process questions and troubleshooting
Provide guidance to other team members through effective communication and positive leadership as requested by the supervisor
Basic skills in standard Microsoft Office systems
