The general role of the Aerial Construction Technician II – Fiber Optics is stringing and maintaining fiber optic cable which includes pulling, tensioning, stranding, and spacing lines.
This individual will troubleshoot, maintain, and repair overhead fiber lines.
This position requires proficiency with new cable installs, pole transfers, strand building, lashing, make readies, and equipment mounting.
The work performed will be within communications and power spaces.
This individual understands each product and supports the improvement of operational efficiency.
They must be comfortable working in heights and confined spaces for this position.
The Aerial Construction Technician II reports to the Project Manager – Fiber Optics and will work primarily out of their assigned location.

e.

) Flagger Certification Must be comfortable working at elevated heights and confined spaces Ability to climb poles up to 40’ using standard safety protocols Qualify as an Electrically Qualified Communication Lineman Qualify in rigging (ex.
Pole Framing) Finish Ability to work under minimal supervision Ability to inspect, operate, and mobilize a bucket truck Ability to apply technical expertise, evaluate problems and implement best practices Possess an aptitude for leadership in the field Possess a mechanical aptitude Show aptitude for 3rd party oversight of optical ground wire (OPGW) installation Possess verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain professionalism Able to read drawings to determine work placement and specifications Compute basic math calculations and take measurements Familiar with Microsoft Software such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project Working Conditions Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel Climb poles; carry, set-up and extend ladders weighing up to 65 pounds, as well as work with confidence on ladders and utility poles at heights of up to 60 feet in the air to perform tasks in communications spaces Work indoors, outdoors, and underground in various weather conditions Able to walk long distances Able to lift up to 65 pounds without assistance Additional Eligibility Qualifications This position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
