Job Summary As a Parts Manager, your primary responsibility is to oversee all aspects of the parts department's operations, including inventory management, ordering, sales, and customer service.
You will work closely with service technicians, customers, and suppliers to ensure the availability of parts and accessories required for vehicle repairs and maintenance.
Kay Responsibilities Maintain accurate inventory records using computerized systems.
Monitor stock levels and reorder parts as needed to prevent shortages.
Conduct regular audits to verify inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies.
Place orders with suppliers to replenish stock and fulfill customer requests.
Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors to ensure cost-effective procurement.
Track order status and expedite deliveries when necessary to meet urgent repair deadlines.
Handle inquiries, complaints, and returns in a professional and courteous manner.
Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing concerns promptly and resolving issues effectively.
Recruit, train, and supervise parts department staff.
Set performance goals and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to enhance productivity and customer service.
Foster a positive work environment and encourage teamwork and collaboration among team members.
Monitor expenses, revenue, and profitability, and take corrective actions as needed to achieve financial targets.
Implement cost-saving measures and efficiency improvements to optimize departmental performance.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards governing parts operations, including safety and environmental requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Skills & Qualifications Comprehensive understanding of automotive parts and accessories, including their applications, specifications, and interchangeability.
Proficiency in inventory control techniques and software systems to effectively manage stock levels and minimize obsolescence.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with customers and provide exceptional service.
Ability to lead and motivate a team of employees to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Aptitude for analyzing data, identifying trends, and solving complex problems related to parts procurement and distribution.
Experience in sales and marketing techniques to drive parts sales and expand the customer base.
Familiarity with computerized parts management systems, Microsoft Office suite, and other relevant software applications.
Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent required At least 3-5 years of Automotive Parts Department experience At least 1-year supervisory experience Ability to operate the department profitably within company guidelines.
Ability to be analytical, problem solve and multi-task Self-motivated enthusiastic presence in a team environment Experience with automotive software preferred Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional appearance and work ethic Current, valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) Work Environment The employee will work indoors and outdoors in an auto shop environment.
