The Pennsylvania Beef Council (PBC) is a non-profit organization working on behalf of 18,000 beef, dairy, and veal producers in the Commonwealth.
The mission of the Pennsylvania Beef Council is to work on behalf of farmers, building beef and veal demand with consumers of all ages, by closing the information gap from farm-to-fork.
The Beef Council administers the Beef Checkoff Program in Pennsylvania, which funds both promotion and educational programs to continually improve the market climate and ultimately demand for beef.
The Director of Marketing is a hybrid position that works to actively share beef’s positive attributes to various audiences including, but not limited to, consumers, youth, retail, foodservice, health professionals and influencers while simultaneously increasing the demand for beef.
The position is instrumental in serving as the liaison from producer to consumer and vice-versa when sharing sound science, recipe inspirations, the beef lifecycle and more.
Day-to-day responsibilities of this position require strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to develop, implement and evaluate programs, at various stages, that are built to drive awareness of and demand for beef.
The Director will also be responsible for financial and budget management, often from multiple funding streams.
The ideal candidate for this position is a passionate, confident, and team-oriented self-starter with a “can-do” attitude.
Given the nature of this position, strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as intuitive people skills, are a must.
The individual in this position must be able to effectively work independently, and as part of a team, with all personality types.
They will also be able to collaborate with and positively influence and motivate key program partners.
Additionally, this position requires attention to detail and strong organizational skills as program expectations demand an analytical perspective to manage budgets appropriately and provide detailed metrics as contractually agreed to.
*Qualifications:* Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Business, Marketing, Food Science or Ag Journalism * Minimum 2-4 years of experience in marketing or related field * Passionate about food and agriculture * Experience in copywriting, graphic design and social media preferred * Strong written and verbal communications skills * Strong relationship building/management skills * Strong organizational, time management, prioritization skills and detail orientation * Proven budget management abilities * Professional work ethic *Benefits:* Group health, vision, dental, disability and life insurances; Retirement plan with a company match; Paid time off including 9 holidays a year : Commensurate with experience within a salary range of $40K-$50K.
Travel is estimated at a minimum of 20%, based on events, meetings, etc.
Overnight travel is often necessary.
Travel occurs throughout the Commonwealth, as well as nationally on occasion.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $40,000.
