Responsibilities and Qualifications: This job contributes to REI’s success by leading the operational and support needs within the specified distribution center while serving as the backup to the building’s Director of Operations.
This job requires managing managers and supervisors overseeing production, facilities management, safety, continuous improvement, production control, returns and inventory control functions, in addition to supporting the connection to our community.
Responsibilities include managing the budgeting process, creating and executing training programs, and overseeing business analytics.
In addition, the job is responsible for assuring all material handling systems, procurement processes, and external contracts are performing to support building operations.
This job partners with the Inbound and Outbound Managers to develop 1-3 year business plans supporting building direction, employee development, and operational efficiency.
Communications are in alignment with company expectations and all company policies, procedures, and announcements are executed to support co-op wide initiatives, vision, and mission.
Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.
Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the organization promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and synergy to achieve business results.
Ensures employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
Oversees training and development of employees, makes effective staffing actions.
Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
Provides coaching, direction and leadership to leadership-level employees.
Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances and issues, and takes appropriate action.
Develops and maintains operational plans and analytics to include all business requirements which include labor hours, production costs, KPI reporting, and meeting financial priorities.
Establishes production and quality control standards, develops budget and cost controls, and obtains data of both internal and external business metrics.
Ensures all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
Accountable for financial scrutiny of the operational expenses.
Coordinates activities with all other functions and divisions of the organization to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, IT, and equipment.
Sets direction and manages the Continuous Improvement program to remove waste and create efficient internal processes.
Regulates responsibilities of assigned organization and staff.
Managing, coaching, mentoring, developing staff to achieve priorities.
Monitoring space utilization/layout to maximizing usage.
Developing, implementing and directing; equipment preventative maintenance programs, safety programs, and facility building/grounds maintenance programs and service contracts.
10+ years experience in leadership, successfully leading a team of employees.
10+ years experience in Distribution of relevant experience; which includes distribution training.
5+ years experience in property, facility management and/or warehouse or production environment preferred.
Bilingual preferred (English + Spanish) Experience with profit loss responsibility; preferred over $5M in expenses and with multiple operational disciplines.
Ability to work a flexible schedule; covering 24/7 operations.
Ability to understand and communicate variances to operations; which include but are not limited to: finances, facilities, productivity, or customer service issues.

Base Pay Range: $104,844.
