CLASSROOM TEACHER SUBSTITUTE/MENTOR FULL TIME – EXEMPT MONDAY-FRIDAY SCHEDULE NO HOLIDAYS OR WEEKENDS The estimated hourly rate or annual salary information is provided by indeed and is based on regional averages.

The Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Bedford and Fulton counties work in partnership with families to build children’s and parents’ strength, promote self-esteem, and encourage self-sufficiency and lifelong learning.
This position will provide consistent cross component services to families, children, and staff in the event of teacher absences.
In addition, it will provide mentoring and staff development to enhance services provided by the program.
Responsibilities: Mentors/trains teacher assistants to ensure developmentally appropriate services for children in the classrooms.
Substitute for teacher and teacher assistant, as assigned, when vacancies occur; according to prioritized list determined by supervisor.
Mentor will follow the job description of position being filled.
Provide ongoing mentoring when needed to assist in organizational skills, suggestions for classroom practices and professional development.
Keep current with new developments, teaching methods and instructional material in Early Childhood Education.
Collaborate with Ed Manager and Education supervisors to ensure staff coverage at site locations.
Serve as a resource person for classroom support team members, other child development staff and parents/caregivers in all areas of child development.
Assist the education component to ensure program compliance with program standards and policies and procedures relating to this component.
Assist the Education Manager in monitoring and documenting program performance on quality indicators in order to meet program goals.
Assist with preservice and in-service training for classroom team members.
Perform tasks and functions pertinent to the support of the education component.
Communicate effectively to ensure that classroom support team members are provided with consistent support.
Monitor inventory and order supplies for education component.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Education Manager.
Maintain good relationships with community agencies and the public to encourage community support and understanding of Head Start and its mission.
Assist with recruitment as requested including publicity, taking applications, including obtaining and documenting accurate income information, providing families with appropriate information.
Work with school personnel and families to develop schedules and programming.
Serve as a resource person and technical advisor to other staff members to facilitate positive interaction with children and parents.
Assist as needed with CDA training program and serve as CDA mentor when needed.
Arranges training and technical assistance for classroom support team members either directly or indirectly, in all aspects of the Head Start/Early Head Start services.
Report child abuse and neglect cases to Child Line in accordance to policy and procedure.
Assist with analyzing professional development needs for classroom support team members.
Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred, Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a CDA credential.
Strong education background with children ages three to five years old, exceptional organizational skills, good leadership and communication skills, and knowledge of basic computer skills.
Must have valid PA.
Driver’s license.
Act 31 and 34/151 and FBI clearances required.
