*Who are we looking for?*
We're looking for male counselors from all over the United States.
These staff will serve as cabin counselors and lifeguards at our waterfront program area.
Must be 18+ and a high school diploma or equivalent.
*What's the job?*
As a camp counselor, you're expected to share in the amazing experience of a summer camp for kids, ages 7-17.
Your campers will look to you to help them navigate social situations, support them at activities and push their comfort zone to try new things, and celebrate the highlights of each day.
You'll live at Camp Soles from June 12 - August 3 where you don't have to worry about housing or your meals.
All of that is included!
As a lifeguard, you will help oversee the activities and campers at the waterfront area under the supervision of the waterfront director.
We provide the certification via Red Cross at no charge to the staff.
It's good for 2 years so you'll have the certification when you leave camp too.
Counselors serve as role models for the campers and should exhibit a high level of communication, patience and understanding, empathy and must have a great sense of humor.
*What's the pay?*
$300 per week for the 7 week program.
Housing, meals, free laundry facilities are all included so you don't have to spend any money while you're at camp.
*Why Camp Soles?*
Camp Soles is a co-ed, non-denominational, general overnight summer camp located about 65 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, PA and 60 miles northeast of Morgantown, WV in the Laurel Highlands of PA.
Our program focuses on making lifelong friends and lasting memories, building soft skills like communication, independence and self-reliance in an outdoor, face-to-face setting, under the guidance and support of our amazing counselors and staff.

*What are the qualifications to be a camp counselor?*
* Must be 18 years of age or older.
* High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education or related field preferred.
* Strong desire to make a positive impact on children's summer experiences.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues.
* Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a great sense of humor.
* Ability to obtain lifeguard certification if not already certified (training provided).
* Previous experience working with children or in a camp setting is a plus, but not required.
*What would my responsibilities look like?*
* Supervise and engage with campers during daily activities, meals and in the cabins.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers at all times.
* Provide guidance and support to campers in resolving conflicts or challenges.
* Collaborate with other camp staff to create a positive and inclusive camp environment.
*What kind of experience do I need?*
Your own life experience growing up, navigating social situations, making friends and trying new things will serve you well at Camp Soles.
If you have previous experience working with children in a school, rec center/YMCA/JCC, theater, childcare/babysitting, or educational setting, that's great! But not required.
Lifeguard experience at a lake or open water is a plus but not required.
*What else do I need to know?*
Being a camp counselor is the hardest best job you'll ever have.
It looks great on resumes for virtually any profession and it provides you with an unforgettable experience too.
You'll meet people from around the world (we hire international staff to work with our domestic counselors), get to do all of the activities the kids do and you don't have worry about your meals or housing for the summer!
