On an ongoing basis examine staff changes to ensure accurate payroll processing.
Prepare and complete payroll including auditing time sheets, calculating earnings, payroll deductions, issuing checks, and balancing out payroll.
Export payroll data from payroll system and upload into accounting system.
Prepare and submit the U.

Department of Labor Multiple Worksites Report and
U.
S.
Department of Labor Statistics Report.
Review quarterly and year-end payroll tax reports, W-2 forms, 1095’s, and 1099’s for distribution at year end.
Generate and post invoices to accounting system based on LTSS Maryland claims.
Generate and post invoices to accounting system based on Supplemental Services, Self-Directed Services, and miscellaneous services provided to Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) and/or other agencies or individuals.
Monitor the Maryland General Accounting Division website for pending payment of DDA invoices.
Monitor banking deposits for payment of all DDA invoices.
Reconcile differences between payment and invoices, and post payments.
Assists Finance Director with record retrieval during audits and reviews.
Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
RELIEF RESPONSIBILTIES:
Prepares and delivers to the bank the weekly bank deposits.
Signs purchase orders in the absence of the Finance Director following the Department Director’s prior approval.
A thorough knowledge of payroll regulations and changes set forth by the Internal Revenue Service, Comptroller of Maryland, and Friends Aware Employee Handbook, including knowledge of compensation rates and related rules.
A thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) including general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
A proficient knowledge of Microsoft Windows, including Word/Excel/Outlook.
Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work rapidly with a high degree of accuracy to meet deadlines.
Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
Education and Preferred Work Experience:
BA degree in accounting, or a related field, with a minimum of three years general ledger and payroll experience or 5 years payroll experience.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with an agency approved driving record.
