*POSITION PURPOSE* Perform independent evaluations of the Credit Union’s commercial and specialty loan portfolios to ensure compliance with recognized policies, regulatory guidelines, sound lending practices and the stability of lending practices.
Prepare and present reports to appropriate management regarding audit findings, compliance status, and recommended improvements.
Assist department personnel to investigate and resolve compliance related issues and collaborate with different departments to provide guidance and training on compliance matters.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES* 1.
Assumes responsibility for the effective and accurate performance of credit administration reviews.
* Evaluate the adequacy of and adherence to Credit Union loan policies and procedures.
* Endorse appropriate loan risk grade or adversely classify loans, particularly those with credit weaknesses that endanger the repayment.
* Assess the activities of lending personnel, ensuring such activities are compliant with lending policies and the quality of their loan approval, monitoring, and risk grading valuation.
* Complete loan reviews of complex loan types and sample standardized portfolios including large, multipart or high-risk lending areas.
* Discuss all well-known deficiencies and recognized weaknesses, and any existing or planned corrective actions, including time frames for correction, with apt loan officers and managers.
* Detect potential systemic problems in the life cycle of a credit from origination, underwriting, documentation, and problem loans.
* Track corrective action of noted weaknesses through to resolution and report such action or inaction to executive leadership.
* Prepare written reports.
Summarize overall review findings including risk grade changes, impairment recommendations, and recommendations aimed at improving the quality of certain loans, the department’s credit administration practices, or compliance with lending policies.
* Validate the accuracy of the inputs to the models utilized in the credit grading/loan review system.

Assumes responsibility for effective and accurate audit planning, performance, and reporting as assigned.
* Prepares audit reports outlining the scope of each audit and its results, and recommends corrective measures as necessary.
Assembles and maintains documents in the prescribed manner.
* Participates in the development of new or improved financial and operations audit programs.
Assists in developing audit procedures and makes recommendations regarding what is to be audited, the methods to be used, and the frequency of audits.
* Assists in establishing or revising internal financial and operational controls to ensure the adequate protection of Credit Union assets.
* Presents audit results as required and explains suggested recommendations.

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Credit Union personnel and with management.
* Assists Compliance Department personnel as needed.
* Provides assistance and support to Credit Union personnel.
Resolves requests, complaints, or problems promptly.
* Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
* Completes reports, records, and documents accurately and promptly.
* Attends meetings as required.

*QUALIFICATIONS* EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: * Bachelor’s Degree Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred or equivalent experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: * Credit risk management best practices, policies and procedures.
* Lending policy, procedures, loan documentation and appraisal requirements.
* Financial analysis including ratio, trend, and cash flow analysis.
* Loan accounting, credit analysis, lending practices, banking regulations, and the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC).
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: * Experience with financial institutions helpful.
* Prior experience in audit, compliance, or similar role.
* Knowledge of financial loan products, services, and documentation.
