RECRUITMENT: The State Highway Administration’s (SHA) District 6 is recruiting for a District Utility Inspector (Transportation Engineering Technician IV) in Allegany County.
This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below.

Nature of Work: The District Utility Inspector will provide senior-level technical direction and inspection duties for the District 6 utilities office for contracts in Allegany, Garrett, and Washington counties.
This position supervises private, public, county, and city utilities companies that are working within State Highway Administration (SHA) right of ways.
It also involves senior level technical inspection and guidance for construction/repairs to SHA's roadway facilities based on SHA standards and specifications for construction and permit specifications for commercial access, residential access, utility access, and district office permits.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in technical engineering related work in the areas of design, traffic, construction, materials testing, engineering surveys, maintenance, or planning.
Selective Qualification: One (1) year of the required experience must have involved utility inspection, utility coordination, and/or project management.

, knowledge, skill, or ability).
Notes:
1.
Applicants may substitute education in a civil engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience, up to a maximum of three years.
2.
Applicants who possess an associate's degree in either Engineering, Construction Management or Surveying or Surveying Technology from an accredited community college, college or university are considered to have met two years of the five-year experience requirement.
Licenses & Certifications
Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.
Candidate must acquire the following certifications and training within the probationary period:
Flagger Certification
Traffic Manager Certification
Soils/Aggregate Compaction Certification
Concrete Certification
Asphalt Certification
Line Stripping Certification
