Basic Statement of Responsibilities
The faculty member is responsible for teaching students through formal and informal classroom in an atmosphere compatible with the philosophies, goals and objectives of the college.
The faculty member will be responsible for developing and delivering instruction within the Data Analytics degree program for DATA-214 (Advanced Data Visualization) and/or DATA216 (Data Analysis in the Cloud).
The instructor will train with Allegany College of Maryland faculty mentors, follow the Allegany College of Maryland student learning outcomes, syllabus and texts, and use the Brightspace LMS.
Essential Functions
Classroom and/or virtual instruction, meet with students, participate in assessment, conduct course evaluations using Evaluation Toolkit; participate in orientation and mentoring; maintain e-mail communication with students and supervisors.

Participate in required faculty training

Submit mid-semester and final semester grades to the Registration Office by the specified deadlines.

Participate in the faculty evaluation and assessment process.

Strive to improve teaching effectiveness and advising in a learner-centered educational model.

Other duties as assigned by the Director of the department
Faculty members are also obligated to abide by and support college policies set forth in the College Catalog, Faculty Handbook and the Human Resources Policy Manual.
Faculty must be committed to the learning centered philosophy as well as the strategic priorities of the college as identified through the Strategic Plan.
Education, Experience, and Specialized Skills
Faculty member will have the ability to prepare students to gather, describe, and analyze data, and use advanced statistical tools to make decisions.
Areas of expertise should include probability, statistics, hypothesis testing, regression, clustering, decision trees, and forecasting.
In addition, faculty member should be familiar with new and advanced data visualization tools used by industry professionals.
Areas of skills should include techniques and tools that combine data analysis with data visualization, from both algorithmic and implementation perspectives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Computer applications (Microsoft office, email, web navigation, Zoom, Brightspace), Familiarization with Tableau, PowerBI, Excel, and Python/R programming language preferred.
